I Know For A Fact, Cocaine Lady Was Coerced To Replace Counsel - Former UK Prosecutor

A former United Kingdom Prosecutor, Godwin Adjei Gyamfi claims certain “external forces”, which he would not want to disclose for now, have always been in control of Nayele Ametefe’s defense during her trial at the Isleworth Crown.

According to him, Miss Ametefe, who has been handed an eight year jail term for attempting to smuggle cocaine into the UK, was coerced into changing her first legal counsel by unseen hands.

“…pressure was brought to bear on her to change her lawyer by eternal sources,” he said on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia .

Her new defense lawyer, James Scoobie, who was brought in to replace Dexter Henry, put up strong mitigating points to influence the judgment.

Prior to the ruling, speculations had been rife that Nayele Ametefe was going to change her plea after she dispensed off the services of her Counsel because most often than not, accused persons change their lawyers when they wish to change their plea.

However, Miss Ametefe maintained her plea even though she had a new lawyer in her camp, but Godwin Adjei Gyamfi claims the convicted drug courier did so because of “external forces”.

“She was forced to take that decision…I have spoken to her former Lawyer and I know she came to that conclusion because of external forces. I would not say anymore on this matter,” he added.

Nayele Ametefe was arrested at the Heathrow Airport late last year for attempting to smuggle a class ‘A’ drug into the UK.

She pleaded guilty to charges leveled against her and was sentenced to a jail term of eight years, eight months by the Isleworth Crown court on Tuesday, 7th January 2015.
