On New Year’s eve 2014, Sarkodie announced to the world his 2015 solo project titled ‘Mary’.
Mary will be Sarkodie’s fourth solo effort, following Makye (2009) , Rapperholic (2012), and Sarkology (2014).
Here are 10 things you need to know as you get ready to nod your head to Sarkodie in 2015.
1. Mary is dedicated to his grandma ‘Mary’ who passed on in 2012.
2. Grandma Mary died the same day Sarkodie was nominated for the 2012 Best African International Act at the BET award, which he ended up winning.
3. This is a real picture of Grandma ‘Mary’ on the cover of the album.
4. He named the album after his grandma Mary because she always wanted him to record live music but she couldn’t live to see his baby boy do it.
5. So do not expect to hear any computer generated sounds, all instruments on Mary were recorded live.
6. Majority of the production was done by Akwaboah, who wrote Efya’s ‘Best In Me’.
7. It took him 2 years to record the album
8. In those 2 years, he purposefully did not comment on the album in the media, so he can zone in and master his craft.
9. Efya, Obrafour, Akwaboah, Chase, and Mugeez are a few known acts featured on ‘Mary’.
10. Lastly, he documented the entire ‘Mary’ studio sessions and has promised to release the behind the scenes videos.
Wow that's interesting tho
