Rocky Dawuni’s homecoming concert on Dec. 18

Ghanaian international music star, Rocky Dawuni, has scheduled December 18 for his “Homecoming Concert & Album Celebration” at the Alliance Francaise in Accra.

Dawuni will be joined by some special guest musicians including award-winning songstress Wiyaala.

Dawuni released his landmark album “Branches of the Same Tree” (Cumbancha) to rave reviews worldwide with the album making it onto the Billboard Top 10 Reggae Charts.

Dawuni has since toured the world with memorable performances this year in Canada, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, USA, Iceland, Greenland, and the United Kingdom as well as prestigious performances with the Grammy Museum’s “Concert For Social Justice” and the “Under One Sky” (with ONE.org) event at the recent UN General Assembly in New York City.

On the heels of this high profile year, Dawuni was invited to join the Leadership Council of Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights. In this role, he will be joining other Leadership Council members including former US President, Bill Clinton, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Quincy Jones, Ethel Kennedy and Harry Belafonte to advance the cause of RFK Human Rights initiatives.

Dawuni’s work as a UN Foundation Ambassador for the Global Alliance For Cleancookstoves and his advocacy for the environment, clean cooking and renewable energy was pivotal in Ghana’s hosting of the Clean Cooking Forum 2015 which gathered 500 delegates from 50 countries gathering in Ghana last month.

The Homecoming Concert will celebrate the release of Rocky’s new album as well as Ghana’s rich culture, music and history.
