FOKN Revenge”Coz of Moni- Friday Feb 21

The FOKN BOIS (AKA Foes Of Kwame Nkrumah, AKA Fear Of Knowing Nothing, AKA French Objects Killing Ninjas, AKA For Our King Now) are Ghana’s most famous and–thank the lord, only–Christian gospel porn rap group, purveyors of a world renowned brand of smut, irreligion, poor morals, crude humor, and jovial ill-temper. Afropop Worldwide is proud to sponsor the debut US screening of their second film, Coz Ov Moni 2: FOKN Revenge, on Friday, February 21st.
Rappers M3NSA and Wanlov The Kubolor- together known as the FOKN Bois, are the masterminds behind the film “Coz ov Moni 2: FOKN Revenge.” Emerging from a West African culture in the midst of a full fledged, tech-savvy renaissance, the FOKN Bois are proud Ghanians committed to poking fun at the tenderest parts of their society through nuanced jokes about religion, sex and food. At the same time, they are discerning consumers of global pop culture, refusing pigeonholing by creating music that is equally in tune with US rap, Ghanaian Hip-Life, British electronica, and international pop.
In addition to hits like “Thank God We’re Not a Nigerians,” and “Sexing Islamic Girls,” FOKN Bois are also responsible (probably the best word to use in this case) for Coz Ov Moni, the world’s “first Pidgin musical”- and Coz Ov Moni 2, “The world’s second first Pidgin musical.” Written and performed entirely in Ghanaian Pidgin English (with subtitles for the obrofo), the films feature original soundtracks that mix classic Ghanaian highlife and the more modern sounds of rap. Both films follows the duo around through a variety of low-key (mis)adventures across Accra. The result? A charming mashup of slacker humor, nuanced political insight, day-in-the-life verite, and truly catchy tunes.
Since premiering at the National Theatre in Accra in 2010, Coz Ov Moni has been touring film festivals, music festivals, cinemas, and university classrooms around the world. Afropop Worldwide couldn’t be any more excited to be presenting the sequel in New York.
