Export of vegetables from Ghana to Europe banned

Government has placed a three-month ban on the export of vegetables to Europe. This comes after member states of the European Union (EU) reportedly notified government of Ghana of “identified organisms” in the country’s exports.
Government is expected, therefore, to within the three-month period assess the vegetable exports in order to get them meet the requirements of the EU nations.
This is not the first time EU has raised concerns about exports from Ghana as similar concerns have been raised in the last few months.
The Union is said to be streamlining the take-off of the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPA) with member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
